East Mitchell Clay is a community ceramics studio in Humboldt, TN offering pottery classes to Jackson Tennessee and the surrounding area. We offer Weekly Classes (8 week session), Memberships, 1 Time classes (2 hours), Date Night, Ladies Night, Kid’s Classes and Team Building sessions for businesses or other groups. EMC is the educational wing of Companion Gallery, serving Jackson & Humboldt are of West TN. We are committed to making EMC a safe place for all people to learn and create.

Summer 2025 Kids Clay Camps
Join us at East Mitchell Clay for our Summer 2025 Clay Camps! Open to children aged 6-18, students will learn several techniques for working with clay, including slab building, coil building, sculpture, wheel throwing, as well as using drawing and painting to embellish their work. Projects will include studies of various cultures’ historical ceramics and reflect a broad range of global aesthetics.
We’re offering two week-long camps in June 2025, and classes will meet daily from 9am-11am each week. Purchasing a deposit below secures your spot(s) for the week of your preference, and we will send an email invoice the week prior for the remaining balance.
One Time Class
Join us at East Mitchell Clay for a fun filled and creative clay experience with your friends or family! One Time Classes are adult pottery classes geared towards Bridal/Bachelorette Parties, Date Night, Birthday Parties, Ladies Night, Corporate Team Building events or any other reason you have to celebrate.
Available dates are listed below. When an available date and time has been chosen, purchase the event and share the link with your group!

Each class is 2 hours long and for adults only unless otherwise specified. We also have a large table in the studio if your group would like to bring food or desserts. Yes, you can bring wine 😉

One session is 2 months (8 classes) of instruction. New students receive 12lbs of clay on the first class of their first month. Additional materials available for purchase as needed moving forward.

Youth Classes
One session is 1 month (4 classes) of instruction with all materials included

About the Studio
East Mitchell Clay is a 2,000 square foot ceramics studio in Humboldt, TN. Our studio has 15 Brent CXC pottery wheels, 5 large electric kilns, a 15 cubic foot salt/soda kiln, Soldner clay mixer and Shimpo pugmill. Students have access to a wide variety of tools, colored slips, clay bodies & over a dozen glazes. We are committed to making EMC a safe place for all people to learn and create.
Meet our Instructors
Eric Botbyl (@ericbotbyl) is a full time studio potter, living and working in Humboldt, TN. He has exhibited his work in numerous invitational & juried shows & received the Best Thrown & Altered Award in the 2016 Strictly Functional Pottery National. Andrew Clark (@andclark) is currently an Artist in Residence at Companion Gallery & East Mitchell Clay. He has exhibited his work widely and written articles for both Studio Potter & Pottery Making Illustrated.
