Chris Gray

Chris Gray is a Professor of Art/Ceramics at Collin College in Plano, Texas. After getting both his BFA and MFA in Ceramics from The University of North Texas, he became the Ceramics Lab Coordinator at Collin College returning to the school he attended as a freshman in college. After 8 years in that position he became full time faculty teaching ceramics exclusively.

Chris works in a variety of clay bodies in the mid to high fire range. He chooses the clay based on the pieces he is making at the time, and how they will best function for those pieces. For many years now he has used certain types of imagery as a core part of his work, hoping to impart a playful and humorous aspect to the pieces. These pieces are usually functional, with an occasional decorative and/or sculptural direction.
